ENTRY 0025 · CLASS: HYPERCAR
Overview§ 01

The 918 Spyder paired a 4.6-litre naturally-aspirated V8 — derived from the RS Spyder Le Mans prototype programme — with two electric motors for a combined 887 PS, making it the first Porsche hypercar built around hybrid drive. All-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering, and a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis rounded out a package aimed as much at the Nürburgring as the road.

On debut, the 918 lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:57, the first road-legal production car to break the seven-minute barrier, and it remains a benchmark for how motorsport-derived hybrid technology can be applied to a limited-production road car.
