Overview§ 01

The Type 901 is Porsche’s original air-cooled flat-six, developed for the 911’s 1963 launch and the direct ancestor of every subsequent Porsche flat-six. Displacing 2.0 litres and producing 130 PS in its earliest form, it established the horizontally-opposed, rear-mounted architecture that would define the marque for six decades.
